Understanding Pitra Dosh

Pitrupaksha & Ancestral Rites

According to the Hindu calendar, Pitrupaksha starts immediately after the Ganesh festival and ends with the New Moon known as Sarvapitri Amavasya. Hindus offer homage to their ancestors during Pitrupaksha to receive their blessings and help their souls attain the path of Heaven.

According to Hinduism, the souls of three preceding generations of one’s ancestors reside in Pitru-loka — a realm between heaven and earth governed by Yama, the god of death. Shraddha rites are offered to these three generations, after which the first generation unites with God.

At the beginning of Pitru Paksha, the sun enters the zodiac sign of Libra (Tula). The spirits leave Pitru-loka and reside in their descendants’ homes until the sun enters Scorpio (Vrichchhika) and there is a full moon.

पितृ दोष शांति पूजा — हिंदी जानकारी

नवम पर जब सूर्य और राहू की युति हो रही हो तो यह माना जाता है कि पितृ दोष योग बन रहा है। शास्त्र के अनुसार सूर्य तथा राहू जिस भी भाव में बैठते हैं, उस भाव के सभी फल नष्ट हो जाते हैं।
कुंडली का नवां घर धर्म का घर कहा जाता है। यह पिता का घर भी होता है। अगर नवां घर खराब ग्रहों से ग्रसित होता है तो यह सूचित करता है कि पूर्वजों की इच्छाएं अधूरी रह गई थीं।
राहु और केतु सभी लगनों में अपना दुष्प्रभाव देते हैं। अगर किसी भी तरह से नवां भाव या नवें भाव का मालिक राहु या केतु से ग्रसित है तो यह सौ प्रतिशत पितृदोष के कारणों में आ जाता है।
